Students on the shop floor
We open the foundry to students, apprentices and the public. Groups walk through the melting shop, moulding shop and finishing and see how a casting is made. The foundry unfiltered, exactly as it looks every day.
We open the foundry gates to students, apprentices and everyone interested in how metal is cast and what the work in our foundry looks like. No polished video. Helmet on, vest on, straight onto the shop floor.
We take groups through the melting shop, the moulding shop and finishing and show how a casting is made, from molten metal to final inspection. At every step the visitors hear it from the people who stand at those machines daily.
An excursion is also a chance to meet future colleagues. Anyone who wants to try the trade can ask after the tour about work experience, temporary work or a permanent job.
