FAQ
What you ask most often
Safety, shifts, transport, catering and the whole recruitment process. If you do not find your answer here, write to us at jobs.brno@draxton.com.
Working environment and safety
Is work in a foundry safe? How do you protect employees' health?
Safety comes first with us. Every employee gets quality personal protective equipment (depending on the position: special clothing, goggles, respirators, hearing protection). We modernise our workplaces regularly, extract dust and invest in automation that does the heaviest work instead of people.
Is the work physically very demanding? Is it suitable for women too?
We have positions where physical fitness is needed (in melting or moulding, for example), alongside many roles in office administration, laboratories, quality control or dispatch, where women and men both work successfully regardless of physical strength.
How hot does the hall get in summer, and how do you deal with it?
The furnaces give off heat; that is part of foundry work. We provide plenty of drinks (water and isotonic drinks), schedule regular safety breaks and keep the work areas ventilated.
Working conditions and shifts
What shift patterns do you use?
It depends on the department. Production follows a three-shift pattern of nights, afternoons and mornings. Maintenance and the core shop run continuously with 12-hour shifts, alternating between short and long weeks. Administration has flexible working hours. We publish shift schedules far enough ahead for you to plan your free time.
How do people get to you? Is there parking at the foundry?
Yes. We have a free large employee car park under camera surveillance beside the foundry. For those who do not drive, the Komárov bus stop (a major transport hub) is a few minutes' walk from the entrance.
Do you offer accommodation or a housing allowance?
We offer neither a housing allowance nor accommodation of our own.
What are the catering options?
You will not go hungry here. Our on-site canteen offers employees subsidised meals, with 7 different dishes to choose from every day. For snacks, we have a snack bar and vending machines with food, drinks and coffee across the site.
Recruitment and settling in
Do I need experience in the field, or will you teach me everything?
Experience is an advantage, not a condition. We have a thorough training system (onboarding). Every newcomer gets a “buddy” (a mentor) who takes them through the first weeks and teaches them everything safely. What counts with us is mainly the willingness to work and reliability.
How long does it take you to get back to me after I send my CV?
We review your application and CV carefully and call you (usually within 1 week) to discuss your experience and skills. If the role looks like a good match, we arrange an in-person meeting at the foundry.
Will I see my future workplace before I sign the contract?
Yes. During the in-person interview we will take you around the shop floor. You can see exactly where you would work and meet your future colleagues.
Do I have to undergo a medical examination when I join, and will I pay anything for it?
Yes. A pre-employment medical examination with our contracted doctor is required by law for production roles. Before the examination, ask your general practitioner for an extract from your medical records. It usually costs between CZK 200 and CZK 500, which you pay upfront. We reimburse the cost in your first salary payment when you provide proof of payment.
Will I need my own work clothing?
For the first 2 to 3 weeks, you need to bring your own workwear. During that time we order your company workwear from an external supplier, which washes, repairs and replaces it throughout your employment at no cost to you. You receive safety footwear immediately on your first day. You return the workwear when your employment ends.
